🏐 SVS Gathering-Style In-House Volleyball Tournament 2026
Hi everyone!
I would like to announce that SVS will be holding an in-house volleyball tournament.
Over the years, SVS has fulfilled what I believe was its original goal: promoting volleyball and fostering the love for the sport.
Along the way, we have made so many connections. Many of you have gone on to form your own groups, organise your own tournaments, and non-stop posting video on Instagram... I’ve also seen so many of us improve our volleyball skills over the years.
So, I thought...
It’s finally time to gather everyone together and put all that practice to the test! 😂
However, I don't want this to become a super rigid or overly serious tournament. I want as many of us as possible to join, have fun, and spend a proper day playing volleyball together.
So, compared to many of the tournaments you may have joined before, this one will be much more casual and gathering-oriented.
The main purpose is simple:
Get everyone together, play lots of volleyball, and enjoy a bigger SVS game day. That's why I'm calling this a Gathering-Style Tournament!
📅 Tournament Details
Date: 7 November 2026 (Saturday) <--- next day is Deepavali holiday!
Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Venue: RKS Sports Center @ EvolveConcept Mall
Courts: 2 courts
🏐 Court 1 — Full Men's
🏐 Court 2 — Full Women's
There will be 4 Men's Teams + 4 Women's Teams.
*This is the current plan for now, but if more people are interested in a co-ed format, I’m happy to switch things around!
📌 General Rules
At least one member of each team must be a current or former SVS member (And yes, joining SVS is totally free! 😂).
Priority will be given to people who have been active SVS members. Will be referring to our Reclub history when determining priority.
Priority registration ends on 31 August 2026.
Registration will open to everyone else from 1 September 2026, subject to remaining slots.
Maximum 12 players per team.
This tournament is strictly for Casual / Intermediate players.
If you are currently or previously part of SUKMA, a national team, or a comparable high-level competitive programme, please sit this one out. We want to keep the playing level enjoyable and balanced for everyone.
Proper volleyball rotation must be followed.
Games 1–8: First to 25 points, strictly no deuce.
3rd Place Match & Grand Final: 25–25–15 format, strictly no deuce for now. If we are significantly ahead of schedule on the day, we may decide to allow deuce.
Please respect the referees, line judges, other teams and, most importantly, have fun!
Things may slowly change along the way as I gather feedback from everyone and see the overall response first!
🕖 Tentative Schedule
Stage 1 — Gathering Stage
The tournament will be divided into two stages.
The first 6 games are designed so that every team gets to play against every other team once.
By the end of Game 6, every team will have played 3 games, and every team will have faced all three other teams.
The results will still be recorded because they will be used together with Games 7–8 to determine the final standings.
Stage 2 — Semi-Final Draw
After the break, we will have Game 7 and Game 8.
The matchups for these two games will be randomly drawn.
The results of these games will be particularly important because they can determine who advances to the Final.
Here are a few possible scenarios to help illustrate how it works!
Final: A vs C
Third Place Match: B vs D
Final: A vs B
Third Place Match: C vs D
Since all teams will have the same number of wins after Game 8, we will determine the ranking based on the total points scored across all 4 games. The two teams with the highest total points will advance to the Grand Final, while the other two teams will play for 3rd Place.
If two or more teams are still tied on total points, the winner(s) of Game 7 and Game 8 will be given priority and advance to the Grand Final.
Team A is guaranteed a place in the Grand Final. Team B and Team D will then compete for the remaining Final spot based on their total points scored across all 4 games.
The team with the higher total score will advance to the Grand Final alongside Team A.
If Team B and Team D are still tied on total points, Team D will advance to the Grand Final to face Team A.
🏆 Final Stage
After the standings are determined:
🥉 3rd Place Match
Rank #3 vs Rank #4
🏆 Grand Final
Rank #1 vs Rank #2
Both matches will be played in 25–25–15 format:
Set 1 — First to 25
Set 2 — First to 25
Set 3 — First to 15, if necessary
No deuce (For the time being, all matches will be strictly no-deuce so that we can keep the tournament running according to schedule.)
💵 Estimated Cost
At the moment, court rental alone works out to approximately RM220-250 per team.
The final amount will be confirmed once we know the cost of:
Medals
Food / drinks for referees
Food / drinks for line judges
Any other necessary tournament expenses
I think this is pretty reasonable considering that every team is guaranteed at least four 25-point games, plus one 25–25–15 match if they progress to the Final / 3rd Place Match.
Most importantly, you're not just paying for a tournament. You're paying for a whole day of volleyball, catching up with old friends, meeting new people, and getting everyone back on court together. ❤️
So let's gather everyone again and have a good one! SVS Tournament 2026 — Let's play! 🏐🔥
👕 SVS Jersey
We’ll also be making our very own SVS Jersey for the tournament! 👕🏐
Stay tuned! 👀🔥
